Garrett Watkins
Founder
Garret offers over a decade's worth of canine training experience with a diverse and extensive background in Law Enforcement and Military Special Operations canine handling and training. Garrett Founded Summit in 2022 and owned and operated the Company until 2025. Summit Kennels is now owned and operated by the former Lead Trainer, Sierra.
Garrett's experience with dog training is very unique and has allowed him to travel internationally and study under world-class dog trainers all over the world! As a local veteran-owned business, he keeps every client's best interest in mind. Garrett's training methodologies and practices are still in use today and make up the DNA of Summit Kennel's Training Programs.

I grew up in Pueblo West, Colorado and always had dogs. My interest in dog training started in 2015 when I got my first border collie. I wanted her to be the best dog around and she didn't disappoint. I spent most of my free time studying obedience and agility training techniques and working with her until we became the best! We competed all over the state, taking many master titles home. In 2020 I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a military police officer and was able to pursue my passion by going to JBSA Lackland to start school as a Military Working Dog handler. After finishing school I was then stationed as an explosive dog handler where I continued learning from several different trainers and dog teams. I had the opportunity to attend a MWD Trainers Course as well as an E-collar and Utilization Course. I was then able to utilize what I learned to train new handlers and canines into better working teams. Sharing your home with an animal can be a dream or a nightmare.

I have been training with dogs for the last 6 years. Throughout that time I have grown a passion for training dogs and handlers to help create a stronger bond, and communication between each other. I cannot wait to start this journey with you and your dog to achieve a healthy, stress free, and positive relationship. I don't just enjoy training dogs but take pride in instructing and leading you with the proper steps to continue training by yourself. Christina Evans

Originally from New Jersey, now rooted in North Carolina since 2016, my love of dogs has been a constant in my life. Volunteering at a local rescue here in NC opened my eyes to a new calling. Enrolling my own dog in off-leash lessons sparked a passion for training that I eagerly pursued week after week. Witnessing the amazing transformation in my dog post-training not only strengthened our bond but also inspired me to share this joy with others. My ultimate goal now is to provide that same enriching experience to other dog owners.

Tigo
ASSISTANT TRAINER
Tigo spent five years working alongside Garrett as his Special Operations Multi-Purpose Canine. During that time, they traveled to 11 different countries and completed two combat deployments together. Tigo is now retired and lives the comfortable, slower paced life he very much deserves. He often helps Garrett with his group training sessions and loves making friends everywhere he goes.
